Hi, I’m Susan

I know how disorienting it can feel to think about starting a business in Switzerland — especially when you’re new to the system, navigating a transition, or rebuilding your professional identity in a different country.

Over the years, I’ve worked closely with a wide range of internationally mobile professionals and entrepreneurs. I was also a co-founder and long-standing board member of The Powerhouse Zurich, a professional network for women that supported expats through career transitions, reinvention, and business building here in Switzerland.

Again and again, the same questions came up — often over coffee, sometimes almost as a confession:

🧭 Where do I actually start?
🧭 How does this system really work?
🧭 Am I even allowed to do this?

What I saw wasn’t a lack of capability or ambition — but a lack of clear orientation. Too many question marks and a tendency to doubt yourself before you’ve even begun.

That’s why I created Start-Smart Switzerland.

Not as a checklist to rush through, and not as legal advice — but as a calm, practical guide to help you understand the landscape, make some early decisions with confidence, and move forward without overwhelm.

SUP Portrait

Because starting a business doesn’t have to feel chaotic.
And starting well matters far more than starting fast.

With the right structure, context, and a clear sense of direction, you can build something that fits — professionally, personally, and on your own terms.
